What you'll learn

Master the Gas Metal Arc Welding process with this hands-on microcredential! Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), commonly known as MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding or MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding, is a welding process that uses a continuous wire electrode and a shielding gas to create the weld. GMAW welding is widely used in various industries, including automotive, construction, manufacturing, and aerospace, due to its versatility and ability to produce high-quality welds on a wide range of materials, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study, provides existing professionals with specialized skills, and can also serve as an entry point to the field. Those new to the professional will be ready to immediately apply for entry or junior level welding positions and pursue weld certification on multiple joints and positions according to the AWS (American Welding Society) D1.1 welding code.
