What you'll learn
From cell phones to satellite communication, and from radio and television broadcasting to medical devices, Radio Frequency (RF) Technology is a constant in our lives. This advanced microcredential is designed to provide existing professionals with specialized skills through access to a fully equipped RF Technology laboratory. You will acquire practical knowledge and hands-on skills in essential equipment, such as vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzers used in telecommunications, electronics, and signal processing. You will learn how to characterize and evaluate the performance of RF devices such as filters, amplifiers, oscillators, and mixers. Key to this microcredential is a capstone project that puts what you have learned to work. In addition to students already enrolled in the degree program, the Radio Frequency (RF) Technology microcredential is open to non-Farmingdale students or alumni who hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology or those with comparable work experience upon permission of the department chair. Successful completion of this microcredential readies existing professionals to transition into roles such as RF Engineer, Telecommunications Engineer, related Technician positions and more.
