What you'll learn

Cost estimating is a foundational step in residential construction, influencing almost every aspect of the project and driving customer trust and satisfaction. With this Estimator microcredential, you will gain essential skills in reading architectural blueprints, cost estimating, budgeting, scheduling, sketching and graphic presentation. You will understand and gain experience in Quantity Takeoff (QTO), the detailed measurement and listing of required materials, labor and equipment that builds estimates. You will also gain skills in management and supervision, labor relations and customer service. This microcredential is a great fit for those in construction today who seek to move into an estimator position or first-line supervisor position, for project managers responsible for managing teams and costs, for facility or building managers responsible for maintaining budgets, and for those seeking to start their own construction business. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and readies you to immediately apply for estimating and related positions.
