What you'll learn

Excel at all facets of the production with this Theatre Arts microcredential! The actor must pick appropriate material, memorize, perform, use voice and movement properly, audition, create a character, and analyze a play. The Director must successfully pick appropriate material, analyze the play, audition, cast, block, and work with designers for a successful production. Stage Managers must work with directors, designers, and actors, must keep the stage manager's workbook, spike sets, and call rehearsals and actual performances. In this microcredential you will learn to audition successfully for an internship or production; apply acting skills to create a character for a role in a show; create a stage managers book and run the duties in stage management; analyze, block, audition, cast, rehearse a show with a cast; and analyze a script and create theme, blocking, and work with designers and actors. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and to immediately apply for backstage or director roles, manage your own productions, and wow them with your broad range of skills at your own next audition. Take along or consider pairing with the musical theatre microcredential described below.

A face to face microcredential from Genesee Community College (10.5 CEUs). Registration is completed with Genesee Community College. Eligible for financial aid.
