What you'll learn
GIS skills have long been needed in urban planning, business, and environmental sciences, with increasing application to real estate, public health, climate and even gaming. This Spatial Data Analysis with GIS microcredential provides you with hands-on experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as you learn essential skills and techniques in cartography, remote sensing, spatial analysis, and data management. Each course in the microcredential culminates in an individual project to help you develop real-world GIS skills. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study and readies those new to the field to apply for positions such as GIS analyst, spatial data specialist, or environmental consultant. The microcredential can be completed entirely online or with an in-person introductory course followed by an online applied course. Designed to provide existing professionals with the specialized skills they need to keep pace or advance, credits from this microcredential may be applied toward the Certified Town Official (CTO) program of the New York Association of Towns. Check with the campus about possible scholarship funding from the New York Municipal Empowerment Foundation.
