What you'll learn
This Private Security Professional microcredential takes you through every step of the process needed to become a licensed security professional in New York State. You will gain a foundational understanding of the criminal justice system and criminal law, while you build essential skills in industrial and retail security. You will learn how to conduct surveillance and patrol, monitor and control access, react to alarms and disturbances, document incidents, assist visitors and employees, and understand industry specific tasks common to positions in retail, corporate, healthcare, etc. For those not currently working in the field, you will have the opportunity to complete an internship in industrial or retail security, earning required hours for your NYS Guard Card, issued by the New York State Department of State.
