This Art History Microcredential allows you to explore the field of art, research artworks that represent the history of art, and discover the significance of art history as both a function of societal and political constructs. You will be able to analyze aesthetic styles from a variety of cultures and historical periods, through the lens of both Eastern and Western art history. Visits to museums and art exhibits will underscore the effective balance of mediums, techniques, and standards of practice. You will gain an understanding of artistic context and materials that fosters both academic preparation and professional growth with credits earned from this microcredential directly applicable to the Visual Arts associate degree. This microcredential is particularly valuable for individuals working in or aspiring to careers in curatorial practice at museums or galleries or in art therapy, art education, or community historical organizations, where expanded formal vocabulary and research skills are essential.
